FA mini & NAA mini
« on: November 02, 2005, 12:07:51 PM »
I suspect I'm gonna come out of this sounding like a fool, but would like to know.
For the longest time, I thought the FA mini & the NAA minis were one in the same. Everytime I'd read something about one or the other, the discription was the same. When parts came up for auction on different sites, I never saw it listed as NAA, but instead FA. But those parts sure looked like parts for my NAA mini.
So now, it appears I've been wrong all this time. They are two different items.
So, how do they compare? Quality of build, accuracy, options available, etc. And why did FA stop making their mini?
Never fry bacon in the nude. Trust me...

FA mini & NAA mini

I have one of each.  The FA cylinder locks up after one shot and has to be removed and put back.  The NAA is like a Timex, it keeps on ticking.  Maybe thats why FA quit making them.

FA mini & NAA mini

Doc T,
I think your mini FA is the exception rather than the rule. I have 3 of the little FA mini revolvers and all three work perfectly. All three have the "Casull's Improvement" stamping meaning they have a frame mounted firing pin. All have very good fit and finish. I have one NAA mini in .22 short. My particular NAA mini is junk in comparison to the FA mini revolvers. Cosmetics on my NAA mini are a disaster. The serial number stampings on the NAA looks like it was done by a drunken monkey. On the NAA mini in .22 short the hammer nose(firing pin) blocks the rear sight completely when cocked. I ordered the NAA mini new and sight unseen. If I had seen it first I would never have bought it. My FA mini revolvers pretty much shoot to the sights. I read in an early issue of "The Five Shot Journal"  that the Freedom mini revolvers were discontinued because the company's backlog of orders for the large frame revolvers was getting out of hand and they just made a decision to concentrate on the large frame gun and discontinue the mini guns. I would love to see the mini revolvers back in production although I doubt it will ever come to pass. I feel certain that quality issues had nothing to do with the FA mini being discontinued. If I were you I think I would see if Freedom Arms would repair your mini revolver. It may be that they still have some parts for them for repairs.
"Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level then beat you with experience." Not sure who first said this, but it makes sense.
Best Regards,
