Magnum Resech Inc. question
« on: October 30, 2005, 03:28:02 AM »
Anyone, comments on rifles made by this company? The local Gander Mountain has one used, but looks new for $800. It is 300 win mag and has a H S Precision stock on it. If anyone has any experience with this, I would like your opinion.

Only $800.00 and you haven't bought it yet?     Go to http://www.magnumresearch.com/Expand.asp?ProductCode=MLR300WIST24 and check it out.  New they go for $2,295.00.  Lawdog

Well it was still there today. I was wrong about the price, it was $828 so I purchased it. Like I said it looks unfired. I will not have time to shoot it until I get back from elk hunting. I will let you guys know how it shoots in a couple of weeks.

Well, I promised a range report on this rifle. I have only had a little range time, went during lunch and shot 100 yards with Remington factory core-locks. 2 shots to sight in after a clean barrel. 3 shots 3/4 ". this one is a shooter. I will spend some time reloading to see if it gets better and will eventually shoot it at 300 yards.

This gun was virtually clean when I bought it. The barrel feels slick like most of my match barrels, Everything is a nice fit. The gun is a little heavier than it looks, but in this caliber that is not all bad. It is still no problem to carry. Heck I just carried a Winchester Coyote Lite in 300 WSM about 35 miles in the mountain of Colorado. I am not sure that there is a weight difference though.

This is a nice rifle to add to the arsenal.

I have an older version of the MR rifle. When I bought it in the late '90s I believe they were just getting into bolt rifles. It has a Sako 691 action with a Krieger tube chambered in Win 270. Only a Bell and Carlson stock - not a Cadillac but not too bad. As I recall they were being liquidated by the distributor as they were dogs as far as sales go. I was a little concerned buying a no-name mongrel but for $600 I gambled and got a real tack driver.

Glad you're happy with yours!
