I used to have a Pro CDP and dearly loved it. So did my hunting buddy and he made an offer I couldn't refuse and I sold it to him. I want another but I see there is a "II" behind the model number now. Anyone able to elaborate on the difference and if they are still serious shooters?

To my understanding, the II means that a firing pin block safety has been added.  I have a Gold Match II, and can attest that these are still SERIOUS shooters.  It's a lot more gun than I am shooter.

The series ll models have the firing pin safety added. That's another example of Cooper's "Ingenious solution to a nonexistant problem" add ons. There has been some reported problems with this system causing the gun to become inoperable. If you think it might happen to you at a bad time you could remove the Series ll parts and wallaaa, it's a Series l!
Some of the guys I work with have the Series ll Kimbers and have had no problems so far. I'll just keep my Series l, thank you! If I ever buy a Series ll it won't take me long to remove the unnessary parts!

I heard about the problems early last year, but it's been a long while since I've seen it brought up lately.
The deal was, anything short of a death-grip and the gun wouldn't fire.
This is something you can check at the gun store just by dry-firing a couple times with the grip held in various ways.
I don't think it was anything more than a specific problem with a few specific guns, and one that could be remedied easily once you knew about it.
That said, I'm glad mine is a Series I.
4" bbl shoots some serious groups. (Just wish I could!)
