whitworth or CZ
« on: October 18, 2005, 06:12:48 PM »
I just bought a whitworth interarms 375 H&H made in yugoslovia, it came with a fixed 4x33 leupold scope, lots of ammo and a brown percision stock and no sights. All well used but in good shape.

There is a stamp on the receiver that looks like CZ  inside of a circle. It also says manchester england, under the stock on the action it is stamped made in yugoslovia. Can anyone share information on this rifle, the quality, how good or bad, what can I expect from this working mans gun.
I posted this question in more detail at big bore and bolt rifle forums.
Any comments good or bad feel free.
  Thanks 45north

45north,

You have a very fine rifle.  The Whitworths were imported to Manchester as barreled actions from Zastava in Yugoslavia (otherwise known in this country as MarkX, imported by Interarms).  Whitworth, as I understand it, did the stocking, and finish work on the rifles, and the examples I have seen look good.  The fit and finish are far above what Charles Daly is importing from the same source today.

I have been shooting an Interarms MarkX for about 35 years now, and have to say that it is a fine example of classic Mauser 98 design.  Wish I could find a Whitworth in .375.  I would jump on it! :D

Thanks for the reply gwindrider1,
I am amazed at how well it shoots. It was set up by a guy that weights at least 100 lbs less than I do, and 10 minutes after leaving his house I went down and shot it and the first three rds went inside 1.5 inches at 100 yds. I drove home with a smile on my face.  45north

I noticed this one GunsAmerica earlier today.  I don't know anything about the seller, and haven't contacted him about the rifle so can't vouch for either.  The price looks good though.

they are indeed fine guns, if you truly are looking for a Manchester stamped 375H&H wood stock I know where 1 is for a fair price, below what they are selling for on the auction sites...this one is 90% of new
