Beretta interested in acquiring Remington?
« on: October 17, 2005, 03:41:43 PM »
I just saw on another forum that Beretta is interested in buying Remington.  Gosh they've already acquired Sako a couple years ago.  Has anyone else heard about the acquisition of Remington or does it appear to be just a rumor?  Best wishes.

I hope it's just a rumor, that would just about tear it for me. They would lose me as a loyal Remington customer if they do.

Not so fast GB. It may be a total rumor but if it is true, maybe we could expect a little more from Remington. Beretta is the largest gun manufacture in the world. They have aquired such great companies as Tikka, Sako, Benelli, and Uberti. Those guns have improved in quality and features while staying competitive in price.

Currently, Remington is struggling to stay in business. They have stooped so low, they now sell an o/u shotgun made in Russia. Although Beretta is an Italian company, it has manufacturing plants in the US where many models are made. Yes, corporate profits go to Italy but that's a token percentage of what they pay in US salaries, taxes, etc. Remington is doing just the opposite. They keep the token profits and send the bulk of the money to Russia.

I would hate to see any American company get bought out by foreigners but if it's a "sink or swim" situation, I would much rather see Beretta take over than loose Remington all together.

If you believe those rumors of poor quality and customer service at Remington now (which by the way I do not) then wait until Beretta owns them. Their customer service is pretty much nonexistent. Go to their own website and read the forums. Once you buy it you're on your own based on their customers posting on their own forums site.

No thanks. If Berretta buys them I'm done with Remington. I'll just buy used ones from that point on.
