Rossi 92 peep sight?
« on: October 15, 2005, 02:45:25 AM »
What peep sights will work on a .357 Rossi 92? I have checked out a lot of catalogues etc. & haven't seen anything specifically for the 92.

I had my 'smith put a Williams FP (Fool-Proof) receiver sight designed for the Win. Model 1894 on my 1892, chambered in .45 Colt. It'll work on yours, too! JD45

Hey Gino, you know what else I did was to have him put a fiber optic front sight on, too. I chose green, but there's red, too. Just a suggestion, JD45

I would suggest for your 92 is the MARBLES tang peep sight.
www.midwayusa.com  has them on sale for a bill, you can get the lyman a little cheaper but it has no windage adjustament. The only way to adjust it on the lyman is to use a shim.On the MARBLES it has windage and elevation.I have one on my 92 posted above and couldnt be happier

I've got a William sight on my 92.  I do believe the 'smith who installed it had to drill and tap a hole or two.

My all steel Mdl 92 peep sight

I thought I would show you young fellers the rear peep sight I made around 10 years ago for my Rossi Mdl 92. It's machined from various steel scraps I found in my shop. Works great. In dim light I can unscrew the aperture and use it as a ghost sight.  This rifle was a saddle ring carbine. The ring would rattle around and was beating up the side of the receiver so I took it off and plugged the holes with blank screws.
This is an old Rossi that was given to me in almost unworkable shape. Wound't cycle 357 rounds and would jam up at the rearmost travel of the bolt. I took is apart and smoothed up the internal parts, took about 10 pounds out of the 14 pound trigger, changed the angle of the tit on the loading gate radically and removed interference between the the hammer and the bump on the bottom of the rear of the bolt. It now cycles almost smooth as an old Winchester and is VERY accurate. I used to load 19 grains of AA#9 powder in a 357 mag case under a Remington 125 grain hollow point bullet. Could hit Pepsi cans all day at 75 to 100 yards.  I load it a little less intense now, down to Speer manual safe max for pistols.  It was stretching cases real bad and primers looked a little squashed plus I was afraid I might accenditally shoot some in my fine Ruger 3 screw 357 Blackhawk.
