Recoil system
« on: October 13, 2005, 05:59:42 AM »
I was at a shoot a few months back and saw a guy that had rigged up a unique way to have his gun reset on target. He was shooting a smaller scale naval type cannon on a fixed wooden pedestal without wheels of approximately 1" bore at a target 180 yrds out, if I remember right. The gun sat on a piece of plywood that was anchored to the ground and had a raised front lip that the gun came to rest against. He had attached bungee cords to the gun and had them anchored on the front of the platform. When the gun fired, it recoiled about 8-12 inches and was then pulled back to the forward stop by the bungee cords. I just remember thinking how slick it looked when fired and how fast he could get it back on target.
