Weatherby Mk V Synthetic?
« on: October 09, 2005, 03:36:43 PM »
I am shopping for either a 338 Win Mag or 375 H&H

I almost talked myself into a M70 Safari in 375 until I ran into this: http://www.weatherby.com/products/guns.asp?prd=Rifles&prd_sub_type=1&prod_code=SNS222RR4O
on Weatherby's web site.

Anyone own one of these? is the Mk V action CRF?  Have any comments about this rifle good or bad?  As soon as hunting season is over I should have enough saved up to go shopping for real.

Thanks

I have a Weatherby Mark V Synthetic in 280 Remington that I had Ackley Improved.  The Mark V is not a CRF.  It shoots well and is very comfortable to shoot (many people do not like the high comb stock).  I also have a Winchester M70 Classic Stainless in .375 H&H and a friend just got a Winchester M70 Classic Safari Express.  For a .375 H&H, I would get a Winchester M70 over the Weatherby.

I don't know if they have those calibers, but definatley look at the CDNN Investments catalog.  They have really good deals on Weatherby "seconds" that would make great hunting rifles.  Go to www.cdnninvestments.com and then select "Download latest catalog" to see what they have.
