My dealer has a Taurus .44 Special, Ultralite, 2" ported barrel. Used but looks brand new. No cylinder ring, etc. Anyone have any experience with one of these. I think they are discontinued now. Almost bougght it yesterday, but thought I would ask around some first. I vaguely remember reading about some problems with the UL's, but not sure. Wants $250 for it. Thanks.

Most of the issues I hear about are in the tracker series,but I have looked at some new UL's that had timing problems... :D

I got a .44 mag ultrulite a while ago, and it shoots pretty well, havent had any problems with it.  Since the gun doesn't have much for weight, you just have to watch out for barrel climb and recoil, its more than other steel models.  The one thing I don't like about it is that the cylinder seems to have more play than any other revolver i have... hasn't been a problem yet, but we will see where that goes.

Titanium 44 Special snubby

I had a Titanium snubby in 44 Special.  It had a chamber alignment problem.  Get the smallest diameter penlight you can lay hands on and shine it dowmn the barrel.  You should not be able to see the edge of the chamber mouth.  (Assuming the revolver is in lockup.)  If you can see the edge of the chamber mouth, walk away from it.

I have a 44 sp 2" ss 455 I think the model is. Its a great gun I carry in a informal mode or back up. I shoot the win 210 silver tip hp works great.
FIW wife has a 32 mag in Taurus 2" its a good gun for her.

If it checks out, buy it! I have a few Taurus revolvers- all .44s. Mine are excellent shooters with very very nice finishes. My .44spl titanium (model 445) is carried daily with 200 grn STs. 8)

.44 Special with a 2" PORTED BARREL....  I think it'd make a great carry gun; even if you miss the bad guy, you'll still kill him with all that noise!!!! :D

You're probably right. Wouldn't want to spend too much time at the range with it. I fooled around too long and someone else took it home. Had a 4" ported .41 mag and it was deafening.
