Parker Hale rifle

I posted this on another board without any replies so I 'll try here ...

I recently came across a Parker Hale .270 in less than fair condition. think it is a model 81. I am unable to find info on this rifle on the internet. I It has a nasty scratch on the stock and the recoil pad is wore out along with the missing rear sight and front hood, it leaves much to be desired. I've seen M81's for sale on some gun sites and they're really expensive.($550-$1200) Can anyone give me info about these rifles? (replacement stocks, parts etc.) I might pick this one up for the asking price ($200) and make it my next project. Any info would be appreciated. THX, RG

I'd try to find a knowledgable Brit, I know a real gun nut, former leo, who really gits around to the gun shows in the northern part of the country. PM me, I'll send you a link to a site he frequents.  :D

Hi All,

The 81 Classic had an oil finished stock so dealing with a scratch is not difficult and a replacement recoil pad should really be no trouble to locate either. The rear sight is possibly a Williams which is the fold down type, I can supply a photo if you would like. Providing the barrel is good and the bluing good then it seems like a good buy.

Fine shooting rifles built on Mauser 98 actions then assembled in the UK. I bought one in 1981 in 30.06. Real gorgeous MonteCarlo walnut stock...Wby style.
Production ended in 1995 on hunting rifles for Parker Hale. I paid 139$ for it new.
