A friend of mine had to mail his back for repairs one of the limbs cracked on the third time he cocked it. The Tl-4 model the same one I purchased this year. I probably shot mine 50 times or so. I thought he may have over cocked it, but I guess not since mine just cracked about 5 minutes ago. Made a terrible sound and knew it cracked. I didn't even have it back enough to engage the trigger. Hope this is not a pattern starting here. They fixed and mailed his in on weeks time. Hope I get the same treatment, either way I may be looking into a different brand for next year.

Bummer for the price they sell these for you would think they should last better than that? You and your buddy are not shooting two light a bolt are you? If the bolt is too light it would act as a dryfire.

Ten point factory bolts with 100 grain tips or muzzys. The Titan tl-4 has very narrow limbs no other cross bow has them. I recently talked to two other hunters who were allowed to use them in the past, and both of them had split limbs also, their bows were older when ten point went under the name hunter. I'm thinking of dumping this turkey after bow season and try the horton's legend series, or maybe just buy a whole new bow assembly part with different limbs if they will sell me one. I predict the titan tl-4 will not be around long, customer service gave the impression they have received a lot of them.

O.K., your friend has a cracked limb on his 10pt and the factory replaces the defective limbs in a weeks time. You now have a set of busted limbs and customer service admits they having problems with the TL-4 limbs. Sounds like they're being honest and honoring the warranty on the limbs. I wouldn't be so quick to dump 10pt. Horton, too, has great customer service, but their xbows have been known, on occasion, to have a cracked limb or two. :roll:

I have no confidence in the tl 4 after the limbs cracked so quickly, after realizing this bow has the narrowest limbs I have ever seen on a crossbow, I kind of feel they may be prone to cracking. Yeah they are fixing it promptly but now I feel I need a extra bow or a set of limbs for back up. If I can not have an extra set of limbs on stand by I would not want this bow unless I had an extra bow. I'm starting to think a sloid limb may be more durable.

I do not have one but from what I have seen if I had the money to buy a new xbow it would be a Excaliber. Yea its a recurve but it has the best trigger and accuracy on the market and not as expensive as the 10 point either depending on model. In fact in the Petersons xbow mag it was rated number 1.

I second JH on the Excalibur. I recently bought a used Excalibur Vixen and it is a model of simplicity. It's trigger is nearly as good as my target rifles. I accidently dry fired it the other day and it doesn't appear to have suffered from my stupidity :oops: I understand that they too have great costumer service.

Got my crossbow back today, they replaced the limbs and shipped in back the same week. Still thinking about trying Horton for next year and ditch this one or keep it in the closet as a backup.

After reading about Bill's problems with the Horton He got I would still go with the Excaliber. If you think about it you really do not need a compound setup for a xbow. A ROPE Cocker will cock it easy and so will a crank if you need one.
