re: trigger pull CZ 550

Hello...

The trigger pull on my CZ 550 is very creepy and has discernable halts before let off.  However, the set trigger works just great.  But as mentioned the 'normal' trigger pull is mushy and creepy.

Is there anything I can do to improve the trigger?  It is a stock rifle - a Safari Magnum in .375H&H.

Thanks in advance for any info,
Gary

Gary,

I haven't got a 550 yet so I'm not very faliliar with it. Have you tried adjusting thr trigger on it to see if it will take up any of the creep? I will hunt around and see what I can find out for you but in the mean time maybe someone will jump in here and help you out.

The triggers on the CZ 550 is very adjustable and easy to do. Just look at your owner's booklet under tirgger adjustments. The A, B and C referred to in the instructions can be seen on either the inside of the front of back cover pages. You need a very small box-type wrench and a very thin screwdriver to do the adjustments. It's really no big deal, but if you feel completely like a fish-out-of-water doing this, then a gunsmith would probably do the job for about $25 or so, but most folks just adjust their own triggers. OK, thanks for the advice.  I'll try working with it myself and see if that doesn't do any good.  Sounds like a fairly simple fix.

Cheers,
Gary

I have a CZ 550 in .243 that I had a gunsmith adjust for $25. My trigger was much like yours before it was worked on with a lot of creep and a lot of lateral movement (side to side) which really bugged me. My gunsmith lightened the trigger to 3.5 lbs unset and took out a lot of the creep. It now has a crisp break and no more lateral movement. After having it glass bedded and the trigger worked on, it has become my favorite gun to shoot. 350 yards shots (at targets) with the Burris Bal. Plex reticle have become fun.
