Uberti Win 73 Takedown?
« on: October 05, 2005, 09:49:36 AM »
Hi all. I just bought a Uberti 1873 Sporting rifle (Win Repro). Can anyone point me to a guide for takedown to service (lube/clean) the action on this beautiful rifle? The "guide" that is supplied with the rifle is limited to loading and use of the lever.    . I'd like to at least get a field strip guide for cleaning purposes. (.45 Colt, 24" barrel) Thanks for any help. :?

My Firearms Assembly I, the NRA Guidebook to Shoulder Arms, and my copy of Gunsmithing Guns of the Old West both have complete instructions for the '73.  The Gunsmithing book has Uberti specific instructions, with notes on originals as well, while the old NRA guide has instructions for originals only.  They are slightly different.  I highly recommend the Gunsmithing book, 2nd Ed., by David Chicoine.  It's not too pricey, and it helps with lots of different guns.
