Ammo not stacking right ?

Has anyone have this happen to them? I have some 45 acp reloads a friend gave me that shoot fine I am not concerned about them as far as shooting them go they seem not as hot as standard hardball is I think they are a 200 grain bullet and the pressure seems fine. The only problem I have with then that they are a hollow point design and they will feed fine in my Ballester Molina but I can only put about 3 in a clip. anything over 3 they bind up and the clip will not take anymore? I checked the length with my caliper to a hardball load and oal was the same. Any ideas? The clip is a standard 45 colt military clip USA made not Argentine. Jim

Jim: does factory ammo go into the clip ok? If so could the reloads be swolen a little, will they chamber into the weapon? JIM

They chamber and shoot just fine using my caliper they are a little tighter but not so much as i think would make a difference. I factory ammo after I adjust the caliper will slide it ok and tha reloads have just the slightest amount of drag but I would think that the clips would allow for some play and not be this bad as it is really close tolerence wise. Here's what has happened: The ammunition was made to the round nose OAL, but the hollowpoint is a flat nose. The sharp edge of the bullet is binding in the magazine. The proper design length for this ammunition would be minus the ogive (curved bullet nose) that is missing. It is a common mistake to set flat nose bullets out to the maximum overall length rather than adjusting for the 'cut-off' nose. Ask your reloader to adjust the ammunition accordingly and it should load in your magazines properly. Whether or not it will load in your pistol is another matter.

Thanks 1911 45, I will be reloading for my self, this stuff was just given to me but I will remember what you said thanks. The ammo does feed and shoot fine in my ballester Molina it just does not stack well. Jim
