I finally finished the stock for my Weatherby Vanguard in 22/250.
I put about 6 coats of true-oil on it an bedded the action to the balance point of the barrel. The stock is a Boyds Ross thumbhole in pepper laminate.

This was a five shot group that I shot with it at 100 yards. This was the first time I fired it since I took it apart about a month ago. It was shot with Winchester White box ammo. I only had time to shoot that one group.

Nice work! And great group with factory loads. Is that a Lee Perfect powder measure in the back? My .22-250 likes 39 grains of H380, behind a 52 or 55 grain bullet, dumped straight from my old Lee powder measure. I never weigh charges after calibrating, and get less than 5/8 inch groups. The cheap little measure is the best I've ever used.

Good eye there Ramrod. It is a good little powder measure. Ive been useing Varget when I have time to reload.

I really like that outfit you have. The gun, the caliber and the stock!
I have wanted a thumbhole for a long time, but never followed through.
How well was that Boyd's stock fitted? I am no stockmaker and a little afraid of the final fitting.

It wasnt bad at all. I had to use the dremel tool a little bit in the lug area and the tang. Then had to float the barrel. That took the longest because it was done by hand.
The outside of the stock was sanded with 220 all the way down to 800 grit sandpaper. Then it got 6 coats of true-oil hand rubbed on.
I bedded the action with acraglas gel. I was really worred about doing the bedding so I got a AGI video. That helped out a lot just to see it done once.

If you buy a Boyd's stock, take a real good look at it before you start fitting anything. I had one that was perfect, with no problems, but another had misalignment problems between the upper and lower inletting. Basically, the barreled receiver fit fine, and the magazine fit fine, but they were tilted in relation to each other so that the action screws could not be installed. A hint of problems to come is that the action screw holes in the stock were hogged out way oversize and off center. Unfortunately, I had already opened up the barrel channel for a huge barrel, and could not return it.
