New question for rear sights on the Win 94???
« on: October 02, 2005, 01:41:09 PM »
:-D
OK Guys,  Here goes......How about a Lyman Globe sight for the front end of my 26 inch barreled Win. 94.  It currently has a very high single blade on it.  I have a Lyman No.2 on it now and am thinking of changing to the Marbles.  Also came up with the idea of puting a Globe sight on the front like my H&R Buffalo Classic.   So....WHATCHATHINK???

Thanks for your time and your replys.

By all means, JT, take that Lyman off & thro it in the garbage! I just put a Marbles tang sight on my 1873 Uberti Sporting rifle & a Lyman globe on the front. Turned it into a real tack-driver! You're on the right track!!! Go for it !!! JD45

As far as  I know, it fits in a regular 3/8" dovetail. You might call Lyman @ 1-800-22-lyman, (I think that's their number). You know, I just now thought of it, but if you have a ramp at the muzzle into which there's milled a dovetail, as most '94's do, instead of just the dovetail milled directly into the barrel, you may want to re-think that globe because of how it may look. Of course it may be possible to remove the ramp, too, & just mill a dovetail into the barrel to make it look right. JD45

No sir, mine is a 26 inch octagon barrel.  The sight is milled right into the barrel top so it should just sit right in it.  I'm hoping this will help me hit a target better and maybe a little farther out.  Thanks for all your help.

New question for rear sights on the Win 94?

hey justice
i got a buffalo bill commemorative 94 in 30-30 with a 26 inch octagon barrel
it has the tall bead in the front dovetail with the regular semi buckhorn style rear sight plus i have added a marbles tang sight on the tang
with the regular rear sight i can shoot out to 150 yards and stay on a paper plate with it.
using the tang sight i can shoot 3-4inch groups at 300 yards and get 10-12 inch groups at 500 yards
my point is go with the marbles tang rear for sure
try it with the factory front sight, then if you are still not satisfied go with the lyman globe front
the lyman globe mainly helps you center up on your target
keep us updated on how it goes
