Hi guys coming to Sask, just east of Prince albert stayining with a friends brother in Candle lake. Has anyone hunted near there? Whats the weather like usually 3rd week of Nov? Hows the terrain? Is there lots of crown land with access? And finally are there lots of deer?aAnd whats the best way to hunt there, stand, still hunt or grunt and rattle them in? Thanks for any replies, Elmerdeer, Dino.

Candle Lake is forested Canadian Shield.  At that time of year the lakes will be frozen over, there should be snow in the bush and roads, and temperatures will be cool.  Temperatures should actually be well below the 32 degrees mark.  Plenty of deer in the area, however, there is a huge no-shoot zone in the area.

I have relocated to the Himalayas, otherwise I would dig out some maps and advise you of where to go.  Be careful where you shoot!  Your friend should know where it is legal to hunt (I think the main highway is the dividing line).  I would probably recommend hunting a little south of that area in the parklands, but I am sure that the person you are staying with knows the lay of the land, and the best areas to hunt there.  Good luck!

Hey elmerdeer (1st timer here) noticed your post and guess what that's pretty much the area i go on weekends, actually just north, place called whelan bay. Any way me and my buddy do all our hunting south of candle in what is called paddockwood, packed full of deer(again this year it is a 2 deer zone)         Conservation reports say that Saskatchewan has a 350,000 deer population    LOVE IT        Good luck might see you up there,   Temperature can be 5 degrees C with no snow one day and then over night  Minus 25 degrees C  with blowing snow believe me it can happen that time of year.
