What can I expect out of my RB 44?
« on: September 22, 2005, 10:56:35 AM »
Hello! I am new to this forum and have a question for everyone. I recently put a 6.5" Taurus SS Raging Bull .44 on layaway. The only 44 I've ever shot was a Desert Eagle, which had virtually no recoil. I bought the gun for heavy-duty plinking. Can anyone tell me what to expect in terms of recoil and overall reliability? I wasn't sure about Taurus since this forum has a lot of complaints, but I did also read that the RB series seems to be exempt from these issues. Any info would be appreciated. FYI I also own a Glock 19, a Glock 34 and an SA 1911. Thanks!

First off,,Wlecome to Graybeard Outdoors!!... :D
I would fully expect to not have any problems with your new RB, I have never had any trouble from any of mine nor have I had any trouble from any of the dozens I have handled/shot.  The recoil from a RB in 44, IMO is very very manageable even with full house loads...

I have the model 44 44 mag with 6" compensated barrel and it is very manageable and fun to shot, and has been 100% reliable in the 6 years i've owned it.  I'm sure you'll enjoy your RB 44.

I just bought a used M44 6" stainless model in 44 mag.  I topped it with a 2X28 Weaver scope.  It will shoot under 3" at 50 yards from a bench using Federal American Eagle.  I am very satisfied with it.  I hope to shoot a deer with it next month.  By the way, I have owned Rugers and Smiths the Taurus shoots just as good if not better.
