CZ Stocks?
« on: September 11, 2005, 02:26:30 PM »
We have discused before about the way the Cz stocks have  cracked  in caliber .458 Lott. I wanted to know if the stocks were also cracking with the .375 H&H I might be able to pick up a new one for $580.00 and i thought this was a great deal. So if anyone has any experience with these rifles please reply .  (375H&H) Thanks Tanoose

Did you guys do anything to the stocks before you shot your rifles like add cross bars or fiberglass bed the stock?

Tanoose,

The CZ 550 Safari, the one with the “Hog Back” stock, is the model that has the reputation for stocks splitting.  The one that split on my was in .375 H&H caliber.  I have also heard of other CZ big bore rifle models that the stocks have split.  Sometimes it’s only a small crack or a chip comes out or the stock actually splits open, always behind the action at the grip.  The CZ actions are un-glassed with no crossbolts and that is a receipt for trouble with any big bore. If you purchase that CZ and the stock shows no sign of splitting then have a good gunsmith glass the action and install a crossbolt or two.  Your hand will thank you for it.  Lawdog

I own the "Hogback" in 375 for two years now.  It came with a cross bolt located at the rear of the action.  No splits, no cracks no tears... Buy It!

I have the american stock in 375 .I have shot it into its second year with no trouble at all.Mine has a crossbolt at the rear of the action as well as the barrel lug at the front of the stock..The stock is very heavy around the grip, almost too much so, I do not anticipate any problems..Gun shootws great and has a very nice trigger too!!!!
