Well you guys have been a bad influence ---T3---
« on: September 05, 2005, 03:56:27 PM »
After I found this forum and read all the comments I have purchased 2 T3's . First one is a 300 WSM stainless, laminated stock and second is 7-08 in a stainless syn. I have been pleased with the less than MOA accuracy and the function of the rifles. The only thing about them I could complain about is that the standard rings will not accommodate a 50mm scope. The scope touches the barrel. That is not a big deal since I like the compact design of the smaller scopes anyway, but did have to shuffle some scopes around from other rifles. I know for most hunting purposes you don't need sub MOA, but it is nice to know that it will shoot where you point if you hold it steady. The rifles are a nice fit for me. The 7-08 was almost a Rem CDL that felt pretty good, but was a little short on the stock for me. Anyway thanks for  letting me in on the T3.

Greetings klong!

Congratulations on your new purchases... how do you like the 7mm-08 T3 so far?  The T3 in 7mm-08 is probably the next rifle I will buy.  I'm still trying to decide between 7mm-08 and 6.5x55 Swedish Mauser as the caliber of my next rifle, I'm currently thinking that the 7mm-08 might be the better of the two calibers - since I already have a .243 Win. and the 6.5x55 might be just a bit too close in performance to the .243 as compared to the 7mm-08.  In any case, I'm very curious about your impressions of the T3 in 7mm-08, I've decided that the Tikka T3 is DEFINITELY the rifle I'll be buying next, whichever of the two calibers I finally decide upon.

Best wishes,
Bawko

I own several Tikkas and, as many of our members and guests know, I am a huge fan.  IMHO, the Tikkas are truly the best value on the market.  Sure, there are other rifles that are less expensive and can shoot just as well, but they do not have the quality and fine fit and finish of the Tikkas.

Atomic Chicken

I have been very impressed with the 7-08 T3 regarding fit to me and accuracy. After a brief barrel break in it is shooting 3 shot groups of .5 inches at 100 yds. It is smooth and so far flawless functioning. I have rifles in Winchester, Remington, and Browning now the Tikka and I believe the T3 will see some significant hunting time this year. Caliber is a personal choice and depends upon the game being hunted. I frankly choose the 7-08 because of the reasonable bullet availability and the fact that I already had reloading dies. I would say that either of the calibers you mentioned would be good choices. When you  make that purchase let us know how it turns out.

:D Bottom line, if Sako makes it, it has to be good.  I don't own a Tikka, but plan to put one in the safe soon to keep company with the Sakos.  I spent 9 years in Europe, when I returned to the States I shipped 16 Sakos back.  Many of them have seen little action, but the 7mm, .270, 25-06, .243 and 22-250 have taken lots of game.  I think when I buy the Tikka it will be in the 6.5x55.

And if ya take care of them they retain their value very well.  I have often had to explain to my wife, "the reason for the safes and guns is to insure I have a retirement fund if needed."

Sir, I have a Tikka T3 wood and blued Hunter in the 6.5-55 caliber.  It is a joy to hunt deer with.  Light to carry and with the Hornady 140gr, SP ammunition they have very little recoil.  On the other hand the Whitetails have not gone more than 10ft. after a well placed shot.  Very accurate, low recoil and a bolt of lighting when you shoot a Whitetail in the vitals.  This gun will be with me til I can't hunt and then it will be given to a young hunter to use from then on.   Great choice from my experience with the caliber and weapon.  Thanks  Buckfever

I bought my son a T-3 7-8 s/s last year.  Now I borrow it every chance I get when going deer hunting.  It shot the first box of core-lokt's so good (1/2") I haven't tried anything else yet.  We have 3 Tikkas now, I'm sure there will be more....all extremely smooth and accurate.  Great choice with the 7-08.

Sounds good.  I have a Tikka in 7mm Mag and it's great.  I also have had Sakos.  On in 7mm-08 w/ Mcmillan stock that I'm still crying over selling.  I only paid $400 for it.

The next rifle I get my son will be a Tikka.  I don't know what caliber yet.

I just bought a T3 in 25-05 a few days ago.  I am really impressed with how smooth the action is and how good the trigger feels.  I've only shot it a couple times but am impressed so far.
I glad I listened to everyone and took a chance on this gun.

tikka t3

hey

  i have 3 tikka t3 s in .243 .270 and 300 wsm
the 300 wsm has a 50mm zeiss conquest on it with the factory rings
so it can be done if you use the right combination   i think that if
you were to put a 50 mm on a lower recoil rifle and needed the eye relief set back further than the factory tikka rings probably would not work but
on magnum rifles where a little more eye relief is a blessing sometimes
it works great for me
anyway the t3s are great rifles  i love all of mine though i dont get to shoot them as much as id like  i really like the 300 wsm
and .270  seems the .243  just sits in my safe but someday i will start loading for it  after i get my others on par   enjoy your tikkas
they are an excellent value in todays rifle market
