holster for super red hawk
« on: September 01, 2005, 06:56:58 PM »
Hello to all, I am having a hard time trying to find a holster for my Ruger Super Redhawk 44mag. I'm looking for a leather crossdraw rig. The gun is not scoped and has a 9.5" barrel. I have both a shoulder holster and the bandolier holsters and don't like either one. Any help would be greatly appreciated.                                                                         joe.

Thats a tough one you might have to go custom. Check with leather people at gun shows. Cowboy action holster makers could probably set you up. Bob Mernickle could make you anything also check his site out.

Thanks for the reply. I did a little surfing and found these two sites. They are both custom holsters, but look to be top quality. The first is www.circlekb.com and the second one is www.andrewsleather.com. I hope this helps anyone else searching for a crossdraw holster for a big double action revolver. I'm going to order one of these.         Joe.

Go to the Ruger website and select the online store then holsters. You will find that they have a very nice leather holster for the Super Redhawk in leather for either the 7.5 or 9.5 inch revolver. They are modestly priced at $35.00. I have one for my 7.5 inch SRH 44 magnum that interchanges with my SRH 480 Ruger. Very nice quality.

You might want to investigate C. Rusty Sherrick at:

http://www.c-rusty.com/page/home.html

They make very nice leather holsters for large frame handguns and have some models that can also accomodate scoped firearms. The major reason why I found this site is because I was in need of a cross draw holster that could accomodate a Ruger Super Redhawk and he can provide that holster in either a scoped or un-scoped model. He also has right side hipped models as well. But, that is your intent, the Ruger on-line website has that solution with a special Triple K leather holster. Sherrick makes high quality products and he gets a good price for his custom work.

Regards,

Ed

Check out Bob Mernickle Holsters @ http://www.mernickleholsters.com/

Then go to the Field Carry section on the menu on the left.

I have a lot of his stuff for CAS and just ordered a strong side t/b and cross draw concealment holsters for my Colt Delta Elite last week.

The only reason that I don't have one of his holsters for my 7.5" SRH is because I carry it in very wet remote areas so use a Uncle Mike's cordura holster.
