After owning 4 freedom arms 454's and 1 taurus raging bull in 454 and 1 ruger super redhawk in 454, I sold them all along with 1,000 rds of brass and loaded amo. Convinced myself that my arthritis would not let me shoot heavy calibers.

I bought several smith and ruger 357mags and tried to be happy. Well they just didn't do it for me. My new 454 FA should be here in a few days. 4&3/4" field grade pre-owned but like new. Contentment begins with the numbers .45.   Regards, Byron  :D

If you can shoot that thing with full loads and iron sights your arthritis is not as bad as mine. Some days I have enough trouble just holding the handgun much less actually firing it.

Actually Greybeard I have no intention of ever shooting a 454 load in it. I sold my last FA along with about 1000 rds of 454 ammo and brass a while ago. But I sure got to missing the gun. All I will ever shoot in it is 45 colt loads. 280gr.WFN at about 1000FPS or a little less.

I do believe your arthritis is more advanced than mine though just by the way you describe your condition. Mine is more a weakness in my grip with slight pain at times. Regards, Byron  :D

Congrats on your new gun. It's hard to top the feeling of getting a new FA. I'm long over due!

For the arthrits, for temporary relief, find someone with honey bee's and let one sting you in the problem joint. Something about their sting helps the pain.

Take Care,
Scott

So I've heard. Thanks but no thanks. I have too many joints in need to allow that. Besides I've had stings all over and never yet seen any reduction in the arthritis pain.

I think when you get to a certain point only joint replacement is gonna help much. The meds I take aren't cutting it anymore. Today the pain in my right hand has been severe. At times hurting so much it just stopped every thing I was doing to hold it with the left hand and grimace. Ah the joys of growing old and falling apart.

Graybeard, My mother will be 93 the end of this month. She has often told me getting older was not very much fun. I did not really believe her until recently. Regards, Byron  :D
