I finally purchased a 24" huntsman blued. The gun shop had it on the rack for a couple years. I got it for $120 which I thought was fair.
I have never shot a muzzleloader before. I read the manual a couple times, That combined with the info from this forum. I took it out to the range. I chose 245 grain powerbelts, 80 gr. 777. I first bore sighted and adjusted the open sights which put me on paper after 1st shot at 25 yards. tweaked sights alittle more, by the time I left I had 3-4" 3 shot groups at 50 yards w/ open sights. I couldn't be happier. I'll be shooting alot more with different loads getting ready for upcoming Il. deer season. Thank You to all the posters for all the great info on things like loads, cleaning, oils, breach plug problems, and advise that greatly decreased this first timers learning curve.

Welcome KBY,

Congratulations on your Huntsman! The Huntsman will be going to Colorado with me in three weeks on an elk hunt. Mine will shoot everything from a 200 gr Shockwave to a 460 gr No Excuses conical.

Good luck this fall.
