I'm looking for a source for a left-hand semi-auto rifle in 30-06, .308 or similar caliber. I could not find anything in a Browning BAR or Remingtons' 7400 series and was hoping to get suggestions from you guys. Thanks.

I recently saw a Winchester 100 left hander on Gunsamerica.com. I think it was a 308. I had no idea that they made them in a lefty model...but there it was. Check it out. DL

Why thank you Ol Tom. Since it likely runs in the family I have no doubt you meant that as a compliment.

Actually my suave and handsome appearance is due to a long history of selected breeding. It took many generations to modify those dominant genes, resulting in what you see. And it may have helped that my wife Betty Sue is also my 1st cousin, a long-held custom in our family. :mrgreen:

Daveinthebush, you know Ive been meaning to go to Alaska for some time. I hear you folks need a little more diversity in the gene pool.

DLuke, thanks for the lead. I checked it out. It turns out the rifle was originally a right-hand model that someone had a real nice left-hand stock made for it. In looking around the auction sites and other sources I see this is somewhat common since no one seems to make actual left-side ejecting semi-autos. I guess it makes sense since the manufacturers would be required to do a significant amount of retooling for a rather small market, and distributors & retailers would likely not stock many if any at all. Thanks again.

The only left handed semi-auto I ever heard of was advertised in SGN about 20 years ago. It was a LH AR15 clone manufactured by a shop in Ft.Worth. The address was Vickery Blvd.

Hey Jim, I sure do like you SavageT handle. Reminds me of that real American super hero tough guy that a series of pocket books were written about. I used to read these in my younger days. I don't remember the author. Now that was a guy that could tackle Sadam all by himself.

You lefties always get the short end of the stick, the semi that will not spit spent brass in your face would be a GARAND / OR M1A and a standard mini-30 non- ranch, they have a habbit of up to the right not across your face.

The mention of the Garand or M1A brings up a question. Does anyone modify these to eliminate a bunch of the weight?

Ron is right. I'm a lefty and my Garand and my Mini-14 dont eject in my face. They are safer for leftys because their ejection ports are on top. I have a Marlin .45acp carbine that is ok with .45Ball, but if you load hollow points, it still shoots fine, you just get a lot of gas in your face.

I would guess that an SKS would also eject up because it loads from the top, but I have never used one.

Holloway Arms made their HAC-7L (lefty) in .308 in the mid '80's. I had one for several years and it was a nice rifle. They will set you back about $2,500 these days though.
