Savage 110 Bolt
« on: August 11, 2005, 01:58:59 PM »
How do you remove the bolt from a Savage 110?  Probably about a 20 year old gun.
I've removed a lot of bolts from a lot of guns but never a Savage 110. I suspect it has something to do with the safety but I certainly could be wrong.
If you could please tell me in simple language so a simple person can understand I would be most grateful.
Thanks!

Open bolt, pull trigger to the rear and hold it there.  Push down on the cocking indicator (I call it the bolt release) and remove bolt.

The bolt release button is usually on the right hand side just above the trigger. Otherwise just follow what Gregory posted and the bolt will come right out.

Thank you very much gentlemen!
I wasn't pulling the trigger prior to attempting to push the side release down.
I find it hard to believe that with all the hundreds and hundreds of guns I have worked with over the last fifty years that I have never had cause to disassemble a Savage 110. (They must be a reliable gun.)
Today was a good day,  I learned something new!
Thanks again

I was gonna say something but I forgot what it was.

I'll probably remember after I log out.
