C-Z 550 CLASSIC SAFARI

HAS ANYONE PURCHASED OR SEEN A  C-Z CLASSIC SAFARI IN 505 GIBBS, 450 RIGBY OR 404 JEFFERY?  PLEASE COMMENT.

They are great looking rifles although I haven’t gotten to fire one yet.  At least they got away from those “hog back” stocks of the CZ 550 Safari Magnum.  They have a nasty habit of splitting at the grip behind the action.  Happened on the one I was test firing in a .375 H&H.  I like their choice for calibers with the exception of the .505 Gibbs.  The .450 Rigby is an excellent stopper cartridge for big/dangerous game, all one would ever need for anything that walks on this Earth.  Lawdog

Not yet but I want to purchase a cz safari in .505 Gibbs for sure, would love one in .404 J as well but can't justify it since I am mostly through a 1909 m98 dwm .404 J project and won't need a second .404 J.

Did they have a price on them.  I know they msrp around $1700, $1800.  I didn't know if there was much off the msrp price or not.  Law dog why don't you like the 505???

Personal reason's.  Just never saw the need for this cartridge.  Also never saw a need for the .600 & .700 Nitros either.  Lawdog

msorenso, I think that price seems right, you need to go over to the big bore forum on accuratereloading  just add the 3 w's before and the .com after seems as though we have link censoring as well  :roll: heaps of blokes over there that love and shoot big bores, it's like hottoning up old cars I suppose. Some proeple on that section get to Africa a fair bit as well so they need there DGR's

I had one. Well made and the stock was very nice looking. It's a big and long rifle with very nice folding rear sight leaves for 100 200 300 adjustments. They were right on as far as I could tell to 100 from point blank right out of the box. One problem was that the bottom rear of the bolt would scrape the top of the comb at full extraction. That was minor though. It was well balanced for its size and pointed quickly. With open sights. The only reason I didn't keep it was because it wasn't ballistically superior (enough) to the more conventional and available Win Mag. Much ado about nothing as far as I was concerned. Besides, the 458 Win is enough (more than enough) for wallop as my experience goes. Now I have only one "African Big Bore", a 70 Win that will fill that Big Bore void. It is better looking and fast to point. Also, it is a 70 Win after all, the bolt action with plenty of respect made in the USA. With a history and charm.
