scope bases for rugar revolvers

has anyone used the mounts from b-square and weaver that supposedly is to be clamped to the barrel? for gp 100 and the black hawk? and which is better I just don't want to have either drilled and tapped I know that that option is better but I just don't want a permanante alteration to them.kjg

I tried the b square and did not like it , I ended up drilling and tapping for a real solid mount .

I had one on my Ruger blackhawk. Worked just fine. If you don't want to drill the guns, that is you best option.

I would recommend getting the Leupold dual dovetail mount. It is unobtrusive and elegant, though it does require drilling and tapping. I would not trust the B-square mount to stand up to repeated heavy recoil.

i have used the weaver one sence i got my first super black hawk about 4 years ago an its held up sence then an ive shot every thing from factory loads to heavy 300 xtp an hard cast in it

:cb2: I've tried the B-Square mounts twice and they weren't worth 2¢ (to put it nicely). When the first mount wouldn't work, they swapped out for a different mount one for a different gun. It didn't work either.

If you want a good solid mount that you can depend on year after year, check out E. Arthur Brown. www.eabco.com/  He uses oversized screws in the mount for more surface contact, and it really holds. I sent him my Bisley and the scope, and he put it all together (Tri-Force mount and rings) for what I thought was a reasonable price way back in my young and stupid days. (I'm still stupid, but just not young anymore.) He does excellent work, but even if you go with someone else, do get a professional gunsmith to do the job right. You'll be glad you have a solid mount screwed directly to the frame rather than the B-Square. Save yourself a lot of time and frustration.

I tried the B-square mt on my SBH with both a 2x and a red dot. You can not get the mount to hold in position, any jolt no matter how slight will move the scopes position. Drill and tap is the only way to make it secure.

I have one on my Single -Six and it works great, but then again we are talking about a .22.
