I am setting up a second Hunstman muzzleloader for a Co. elk hunt this fall. I bought a 20 Tracker II as the platform and my kids will use it here for deer.
I sent my receiver in a little over two weeks ago for a stainless Huntsman barrel w/ Williams receiver sight and a .22 Hornet front sight.
It came two days ago (FAST) but it had standard sights and on invoice I was charged for the other sights I ordered. (they probably just made an oversight)
So I have my wife call NEF yesterday and explain the problem, they said they would ship them and I would have to figure out how to get them on. My wife calls me at work, because she didn't like that answer. I have her call back and ask if they screw on in existing holes, if so that is fine and if not I want them to do it. She is told by NEF that they do not do custom work, I have to figure out how to attach them.
I think the Williams rear will go no with scope mount holes. I am not sure if the Hornet sight will go on after their answer.
I was under the understanding that NEF had put these sights on for customerrs at their request at the factory. ( I do not consider putting on some different sights of their own to be custom work.)
Here is my questions-
Has anybody had NEF put on Williams rear and a Hornet front onto an accessory barrel?
Do I need the Hornet front sight for proper point of aim/point of impact with the Williams rear? (I would prefer the steel Hornet sight over the standard plastic front.)
Has anyone installed a Hornet front themselves and how?
Has anyone had a gunsmith install a Hornet front sight and how did they do it?
Any help, ideas and experience are welcome.
Thanks ILHunter
