Slug gun scope opinions needed....
« on: May 20, 2005, 05:37:20 PM »
I want to pick up a 2x7 power shotgun scope but want to keep the price at around $150.

A couple scopes that were suggested to me were the:
...Bushnell Legend and the Nikon Pro Staff.

Looking for:
...opinions or experiences that anyone has had with either of these
...what technically may make one better than the other, or
...suggestions on any other scopes in the $150 price range.

Thanks.

I have two of the Nikon Prostaffs. They are crisp, clear and bright.

I was in the same boat about a year or two ago and ended up shelling out the extra $25 for a Leupold.  The reasons where Quality (the scope is going to take a pounding) and the lifetime warranty.  I also, have Burris on another rifle and believe the Burris is comparably priced.

I'm curious as to why anyone would need 7x on a shotgun. Please tell!

I also like the 2X7 Nikon Prostaffs and have two.

Very clear optics.  Great value for the money.

The 7X setting is really helpful here in PA where we have antler restrictions and must be certain that the deer is legal before we shoot.

Who needs a 7x on a shotgun?  Probably nobody.  I had a 2-7 on mine because it was cheaper to buy a variable VX1 than a fixed power.
