savage question
« on: May 18, 2005, 02:52:16 PM »
hi all. excellent website you have here. If anyone can help me out, I have a question on a savage model 11F I just purchased. I took it to the range today and  for some reason the last shot out of the magazine jammed every time. It was happening when the last round was being fed into the chamber. it  appeared (and I could be wrong) that the shoulder of the cartridge was catching on the feeding ramping as the round was just starting to feed into the chamber.  I thought it was kind of odd that it only happened on the last round. which kind of leads me to believe its not the ammuntion.  btw, its a .223 and I was using winchester (white box) ammo, in 45 grain hollow point I believe.  any ideas would be greatly appreciated. thanks. dave

is it a removeable magazine? if so you may not have it all the way "in" when you put it in. leave the bolt the whole way back when inserting the magazine.

or

if its an internal magazine maybe the spring is broker, bent, or just wearing out from age.

call savage or email them from their website and see if this is a common problem and see what they say.

Would not hurt to try a different lot or brand of ammo. I had a feed problem in my 11 model, tried a different lot and never had the problem again. If the same problem you described occurs with different ammo, you've at least eliminated that as an issue.

Hunting and fishing are not matters of life or death. They are much more important than that.
