It is hard to find a manual tranny these days.  I used to really prefer one until I got accustomed to the auto transmissions of todays ATV's.  In some ways I still like the manual tranny better, but these auto ones are really good now, and quite durable.  I think Yamaha still has a manual t4ranny Big Bear.  Not sure.

I quit shifting quite a few years ago.  Truck and car are autos.  Kaw Prairie 650 is auto.  Lawnmower is hydraulic drive.  Even my weedeater is electric start. :)   I believe in anything that makes life easier.

I have one of each.  While I still enjoy shifting, I have gotten to where I prefer the Auto.  I always hated going up a big hill and running out of steam with the manual.  Sometimes shifting to the lower gear can get you into trouble.  In a case like that you just give the auto more throttle and away you go.  But then again, it might have something to do with the fact that my manual is a 250 and my auto is a 600, there is surely a difference in available "steam".
