price check on sako vixen
« on: May 15, 2005, 11:31:17 AM »
Friends father passed away and he's looking to sell his guns.  One that is of intrest to me is a Sako Vixen L461 in 222 Mag, Bofors steel, Finland, s#712xx.
Gun is good++ to very good condition.  Blue Booked it, but wondering what a real world fair offer would be for it.

pharmuse,
Since you didn't say what they were asking it's kinda hard to give sound advice.  I own an L46 in .222 mag that my folks got me new back in the early 60's.  It's still shooting 1/2" groups.  I love that gun , sentimentally and cause it just shoots good!  If ya can afford it, get it, it's a good investment.
From Charleston huh, I'm originally from Gassaway.  Go Mountineers!!
You''re only as old as you think you are.....I''m still waiting on puberty, AGAIN!!

Thanks guys for the input.  MT4X actually in Elkview, so even closer.  Actually, my friend has very little gun knowledge  (called the sako a 222 guage and a model 12 a 12-16 guage).  He brought me all 10 long guns the 1st of May and wants me to sell them for him.  I've been turkey hunting and too busy to follow up.  I'm not looking to sell any here, but I'm not really into long guns, so I thought I'd get some price quotes as a general idea.  I have blue book prices on everything, but wondering what a FAIR price would be for me to offer him.

1.Sako L461 222mag very good (scoped, but no value)
2.Win Mod 12  16ga good
3.Weatherby 22 Mark XXII good (scoped, no value)
4.Rem Mod 10 12 ga (barrel shortened) fair
5.Rem 721 270  right hand bolt w/ exc. fitting curley maple lefthand stock
                     (scoped, no value)
6.OLD rem 22 semi auto model 241 poor to fair
The rest are cheaper single shot shotguns (No Model 37's :)))
