lube test

What would be a good test to see which lube works better?  Offhand, if I shoot a string of identical loadings with each each lube, I guess the less efficient lube would show a fall off of accuracy sooner.  I wouldn't clean or use the blowtube between shots.  I was thinking of 10 shots for each lube.  Is that  enough-- any other ideas.  I'm using Emmert's lube with some lanolin and another lube you may have seen on the net.  It's call the 'best lube", and I add a little lanolin.  Emmert's is soft and 'best lube' is hard.

I don't have the complete answer to your question, but here's one very important thing I would do:

First, shoot like you would do normally.  For me, that means shooting with blow-tubing, like I would do in a match.

Then when you've finished your string of fire, get a dry patch ready to go on a cleaning rod.  Blow tube again (using the same number of breaths as you would normally do between shots) and then immediately run the dry patch down the barrel, paying attention to how smoothly the patch goes down.  Take a close look at the patch for a) streaks of lead, and b) note how dry the fouling is.

A smooth path down the bore, no leading, and moist fouling on the patch, are things you want to see.

I tried 2   12 shaot strings today with a cleaning between each string.  2 fowlers and 10 followups.  from the start accuracy was poor from each group.  The soft lube group was 6 1/2"  and the hard lube group was 5 1/2".  I have no info on barrel residue because I sprayed water down the barrel and ran a few patches through.  In either case, accuracy fell off but there was no leading.
