17 mach 2 ...sweeeet!
« on: May 12, 2005, 10:04:18 AM »
ok,after reading the posts and hearing stories at the local gunshop I finally had to see what all the fuss was.so last week i was in harrisburg at the gander mt and they had a NEF SPORTSTER 17 mach 2 for a very reasonable price 95.00 so i grabbed it.after mounting a scope  i went to the range to see for myself if this was as good a shooter as i had heard.after initial adjustments on the scope i had her shooting one tiny ragged hole at 50 yards,5 shot groups then i hung some helium balloons up at 100 yards and i was amazed at how fast the balloon popped when i squeezed the trigger.this is fast and seems to be quite accurate as well.IM SOLD :agree:  :D

Yes, they are great! Congratss, you got a great buy on it! I shot mine again yesterday, shot the Eley primed Remington ammo, so far it's the best shooting of the bunch, with 1/2"- 3/4" groups at 100yds.

I recently got a Sportster in 17M2 and have had a blast with it. Mine will take down beer cans at 130 yds. all day long. I'm moving my targets back to 200 yds.
These rifles can't be beat for quality and price.

Nice to hear good reports on Mach2. Good shooting guys.

Any idea if the Mach2 barrel is available in the Accessory program yet? I've a mind to ship my old 22LR Sporty in for the perfecta of rimfire barrels. 22Mar 17HMR and the Mach 2.

One frame 4 calibers... :toast:

Sweet.... :agree:

I suppose I could call Jennifer but I'd rather ask here.

I wonder if Jennifer is single and under 50? :-D

Cosidering the fact that she just may very well read these forums, (hi Jennifer). I hope that she's under 50 years old, weighs over 50 pounds and is over 50 inches tall.

(I should be a politictian)

I moved my targets to 210 yds last night and holding over what appearred to be 3 inches higher than my target at 130 yds, was popping beer cans with regularity. Amazing. I love this Sportster.

I've got the HMR version, and take sport in blastin' 12 guage shot gun hulls off the edge of my target at 100 yards.
Ohhhh, I hate when that happens

Yep. I've already shot a lot of the little critters with it. And from distances out to 150 yards

My wife (Bless Her Heart) bought me a new Mach 2 today...First NEF I have owned so far.  Was threatening to get a 223 but ended up getting a new barrel for my Encore instead.

Anyway, I didn't have a scope to put on the Sportster, so I took the BSA Red Dot off my 870 shotgun and put it on the Mach 2......Not bad...not bad at all.

I was only shooting at about 40 yards to get it close....leaning out the passenger window and fighting off B57 sized Misquitos at the same time but I did get it centered.

Ought to prove real interesting when I have a chance to fine tune it or put a regular scope on.
