New CZ Opinions

I have looking at an expensive toy...a CA 550 Safari in 458 Lott.  I must say I was impressed by the action, smooth and not gritty and the three leaf sight which came on target quickly.  The recoil pad, a Pachmyer Decelerator was also nice.  The one I looked at had the laminated stock which was about $250 more than the walnut but would be stronger.

Here is the question; I can pick up a 1975 modified model 70  Super Grade, 458 Lott with a muzzel brake for the same money.  My hesitation is that it does not have controlled feed and it was modified from 458 Win. Mag.  Both are $1050.  I think the Win. is over priced  based upon the book value.

Any thoughts out there?

In the long run the Winchester will carry it's value better.  I saw a lightly used CZ 527 go at auction last year for $275, about half of a new price.

I have been eyeing that CZ in 458 Lott as well. If it were me I would definitely go with the new CZ over the used "modified" winchester... :D

The CZ is real nice, but you can also get a new Winchester .458 Mag. and rechamber it. They are controlled round feed now.
