I need some slug help guys
« on: May 07, 2005, 10:23:03 AM »
Hope someone can help me out:

I ordered a barrel from cheaper than dirt............its a nice barrel.........but it has sights.........I ordered the one with a scope mount since I already have the rings and scope............it's to late to return it so I will have to just live with it. My question is this..............have any of you tried the tasco scope mount for a model 500 shotgun.........did it work well ?

Thanks for the help

nealglen37,

If you ordered and paid for a cantilever scope mount barrel and got one with rifle sights, you need to let CTD know of their error. How long have you had the barrel? If you want a dedicated slug barrel on a autoloader or a pump gun, the cantilever mount cannot be beat. The scope will stay with the barrel and also sighted in as long as you don't bang it around.

The Tasco scope mount is nearly worthless for a slug gun scope, I have used one nearly 20years ago on a Remington 1100, with that mount I couldn't hit the same 55 gallon drum twice at 50 yards. :)

The B-Square Saddle mounts are better, but you still have a scope mounted to a receiver and a barrel that moves independently from both. The cantilever mount barrel IS the way to go and you won't be sorry if you get one. Changing to a bird barrel is as easy as unscrewing the barrel putting in the new one and tightening it back down. No scope mounted to your receiver to get in the way and have to resight in EVERY time you remove and replace it.

Call Cheaper Than Dirt and make sure you get your cantilever mount barrel that you ordered. Trust me, you will not be sorry.

they are a good company, if you do right by them , chances are they will take care of you. Don't send the barrel back all fouled up with powder residue etc. That would just ruin it for others to follow.
