just wondering what the most accurate bullet you guys have shot out of your 45 colts was cast or JHP?

thats a tuff question as every gun is its own animal but a couple that have been consitantly accurate for me are the rcbs 255swc and 300 swcgc and the ballistic cast 320 lfn

I don`t load much .45 Colt ammo, just don`t shoot it. For my .44 mag`s. I like Serria bullets better than anything else, mostly 240 gn. HP`s. For my .454`s I shoot mostly Hornady XTP bullets as the Serrias are to soft to hold up to the velosities. I think that as far as accuracy goes, the Serrias and the Hornadys are both excellant. The Serrias definately expand alot faster than the Hornadys. I would say the Serrias for the .45 colt for hunting deer, and the Hornadys for hot loads for bear.

Well I shoot my SAA's alot and Id have to say that cast bullets of the LBT flavor are the most accurate for me hands down. I've gotten good groups with Magma's 250 rnfp and 3-D's 250 rnfp but most any other cast bulllet tends to have a sweet spot. LBT bullets are alot more forgiving in that regard. I think strong driving bands are imprtant for accuracy in a revolver - combine that with proper fit and you will find a winner.

I found the 240 gr. XTP bullets to be the most accurate for me.

I cast some RCBS 45-255-K's for one of the best sixgun shots in our state and loaded over 18.5 grs. of 2400 he put them into barely over an inch at 50 yards. I have never shot a group like this but I have not his eyes or a sixgun that compares to his.

The best one I have used was a swagged lead 255 gr. Winchester bullet. It wasn't the best by any great amount but better none the less in my sixgun at 25 yards.

I shot a 1" 3 shot group at 100 yds with my new model blackhawk LC 45

using Hornady H.P.XTP bullets 240gr. at 1450 FPS.

You have asked a almost impossible question. I have some 45s that love lead hard cast bullets I also have some that do better with jacketed bullets . theres some loads that will work pretty well in most of my pistols but there are some that will not work in any of them. Its a trial and error situation. I wish it was that simple, we could get by with one load for all shooting, ain't gonna happen. good luck to ya.........Joe..............

Both my derringers, and my elcheapo "Europian Arms" or something like that Colt replica .45LC like(d) Hornady XTP JHP's.

The revolver ate lighter loads alot better then the derringers. They seemed to be as accurate just about any way I loaded them, so they got stiffer, wrist wrenching loads for use as a B.U.G..
