Had a 15" barrel for awhile.  Got 2600 fps with Rem 120 gr. bullets and IMR4350 powder.  Good accuracy.  Never hunted it, sold it to finance a custom barrel, wish I didn't.

The last four whitetails I've killed have been put down by a 260 Rem 24" barrel, Encore. I use a 100gr Hornady SP in front of 43.5 gr of W760. All four were lung shots. Shortest run was 25 yards, longest was about 200. All were lung shots and all were through and through. I don't think I even got a rib bone with any of them. Sometimes it's a hassle to track them down with a lung shot and on my property they tend to run down in a pretty deep hollow on one side or the other. The upside is, I don't lose any meat to a bloodshot shoulder. I'm thinking that if I take a shot on a large buck I'll choose the shoulder and put him down right there. The 260 is my favorite round for the Encore. Low recoil, not very loud and very accurate. This load will easily do sub moa and I have done less than 1/2".

I have a 14 inch MOA 260 Remington that will shoot sub half inch groups with 37.5 grains of Varget with a 120 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip.  This is not the heaviest load, but it is the most accurate.  Haven't run this load over a Chrono yet.

I use 44 gr. of IMR 4350, Hornaday 140 Gr. SP., Rem. 9.5 primer. In a 22" barrel I get 2700 fps. The accurary is less then .75" at 100 yds., and the recoil is light. I shot a few deer and the 260, and it is now my favorite caliber for whitetails. Two days ago I leaned the gun against the side of a tree and picked off a deer at 300 yds., with one shot. The exit hole through the ribs was about an 1.25". I used a 308 for deer for many years, but I think the 260 kills them better. The 260 make a fearsome varmint cartridge. I've used 85gr. Sierra, 100 gr. Hornady, but the best is the 95 gr. Hornady V-Max.. Accuracy is great, the recoil is a little high for a varmint rifle, but it's great fun to shoot ground hogs beyond 500 yds. It's a shame that the 260 is not more popular. Today it seems everybody is super-magnum crazy and the 260 don't look like much of a performer. But it's one of the most enjoyable and effective cartridges I've ever hunted with.
