Of the scopes you mentioned I would go with either the Burris or Leupold as they have the best warrantee as far as I am concerned.  Lawdog

I am with Lawdog there.. A nice Leupold VX-III would fit the rifle nice, a 3-9x40 may be your best bet.  You can't go wrong with a Leupold, and their warranty is second to none.  Drop it and it breaks, you get a new scope - Simple as that.  Look through one and you won't have any trouble deciding which you want.  The quality of the glass is insane and serves you real nice in low light conditions.  I am sure you will make the right choice    :D

zfishingfool - I put a Leupold 4.5X - 14X Vari-X III on my .300 RUM using the Dual Dove-tail rings and bases and it works great! I agree with the other guys too, Burris would work out just as well! CEJ...

If you have the money...Definately Leuopold.  Without question it has the best eye relief, optics are clear.   The Bushnell Elite served me very well in horrible foul weather...you just cant beat it for bad weather....although, I don't know how the Leuopold compares in harsh wet/cold & changing temperatures.  The Elite is OK for eye relief...but not nearly as good as the Leuopold.  With an Ultra-Mag, you need to make sure that your scope is mounted far enough from your face so that you do not bleed all over it.
....make it count

I'm partial to Swarovski, but for the money the Leupold is the best value in premium scopes. I used to use lesser brands until I had the opportunity to hunt with a premium scope and what a difference. Once you get used to quality optics it drives you nuts not to have them.

I love the Elite 4200s but they have less eye relief than some other scopes.  I have a 7mm Ultra Mag with an Elite 4200 4x-16x-50mm and the scope never touches me.  As such, the 300 Ultra may or may not be fine with the Elite.

The thing about Leupolds is that, like most scopes, the eye relief is variable, not fixed.  If you shoot at lower mangifications, then you have a lot of eye relief.  However,  if you shoot at high(er) magnifications, then the eye relief is about the same as the above mentioned Elite which has a fixed eye relief of about 3.6".
