Sean,
I hope S&W sells even more X frame guns including the new 460. That is the one I am waiting on. To be able to fire 45 Colt, 454 Casull, and the 460 round that eclipses the Casull, all in the same gun, now that is worth the price of the ride.
I don't know where the idea comes from that S&W has had problems with the 500, but I have heard that from a couple of places. I have also heard that they are still ironong out a few issues with the new 460. Both the 460 and the 500 really go to places pressure wise that would have been impossible just a few short years ago. If the guns prove reliable and durable with all that pressure, I think that S&W will have just inaugurated a new era in handgun shooting like they did with the 44 Mag.
If the 460 catches on and Dan Wesson decides to make one, which would be easy for them to do, that would probably be just about the perfect big bore revolver IMHO. Add a Marlin lever gun in the same round, and that would be close to firearm heaven. I already converted a Marlin 444 to shoot the 445 Supermag as a companion to my Dan Wessons in that caliber, but I would have to have a 460 combo if Dan Wesson and Marlin will follow the lead of S&W.
Best regards,
Roll Tide
