Where to find gold in San Diego
« on: April 04, 2005, 08:44:49 PM »
I want to take my four kids panning for gold. Where is a place in San Diego where we can find flakes. I dont really care to strike it rich, just find a tiny amount.

Thanks

:D
You might go to Julian.Think there was a creek, not far from the mining exhibit.
Haven't been there in years. In fact, OVER 25 years !
Used to live in Escondido. Lived there for some 22 years.
The best area, if you don't mind traveling,is the North Yuba. The Middle Fork Yuba and the South Fork of the Yuba River are all good areas.
Then there are the American River, and the Stanislaus River.
Nearly any area in the Sierras, should show color.

Tom and Perry Massey used to do a lot on the Stanislaus River and the Yuba.  But, I think some different regulations went int here recently but not sure.

Why not join the GPAA?

Hi Jdt,
I was a member of the GPAA some years ago.
Still have a few tapes from the show.
An unfortunate incident at Italian Bar,prompted me to quit.
The caretaker back then, was rude. Not friendly or knowlegeable at all
concerning GPAA/LDMA.
Felt like I was intruding. We weren't allowed to stay on the LDMA property.
Even though, I was a current GPAA member back then.
Got on line, told the GPAA about this individual. And told them, that we better not meet again, or I'll be really unfriendly. And he wouldn't like it.
So, I sent back everything to them.
The caretakers before this one, we knew through our friends that worked at our cannery. They were LDMA Life, and knew I was in the GPAA.
We had a wonderful time.He told me, that if anyone gives you a hard time, come and see him. :-)
A few months before this, I got to meet Perry at a meeting in Stockton,CA.Miss George a lot.
So, now, I'm a life member of the "United Prospectors Inc." :D
What is the cost of a current LDMA now ? Was a few thousand $$$$$ !
Had consider go back to GPAA.Still don't know if I should or not. :o
Found a lot of flour gold in the North Yuba. Now, the gummint wants fees
for day use.And the program is tax supported. Makes no sense.

hi,45454
you wern`t the only one ,a lot of folks complained about that caretaker.
he`s long gone! the price for ldma is about 3,500.00 ,but you can buy them on e-bay or the gpaa forum for a lot less!its still a good deal.
they fight hard for you in calif.lots of legal red tape when it comes to dredging on state & fed lands!TELL THEM YOU WANT YOUR STUFF BACK!

Hiya, :D
AH-HA.That guy sure wasn't too nice I can tell ya.
Thanks for your reply.
Anymore, I just want to get out of Kaleefornia.
Will have to be patient, though. Looking for land that don't cost an arm and a leg with some missing fingers  .
The elections starts tomorrow.Yes on this ,no on that. You don't know who to believe. Can't trust anyone telling the truth.
All I know, is Arny, wants more socialism at best. Oh well.Almost bet,he'll
not be the "governator" again.
Been waiting for the 2 guys I/we met at the Virginia City (NV)Cemetary.
They have both e-mails of mine. They live in Idaho. The one guy said he knows where gold is found. And said that gold means nothing to him,
(Apache). These guys made us feel like talking to old friends.
Really would like to visit them in Idaho. :o
Vacation time is comming quick.
Well, got to get ready for bed. Might rain tonight.Snow in the Sierras.
Wolfsong and I are planning on a bear hunt.Met Wolfsong last Friday.
Real nice guy to know.It was a good first meet.
Rain in the Sierras would be good to bring the gold down.
See you later. :D
