Used Sigs
« on: April 03, 2005, 03:48:25 PM »
 Went to a gun show today, seems almost every dealer there had a table full of used Sigs.  Most were "factory rebuilt", and most all of them seemed to be in good shape.  Prices went from one extreme to another.  I was told they were mostly lease police firearms, but that seems strange since they ranged from .380 to .45.  One dealer said they came from an overseas police organization.

I couldn't pass up a little 226 in 9mm for $325 out the door.  If it shoots I think I got a heck of a deal

Bought a factory rebuilt P220 A guy bought it and his wife raised hell so he brought it back to the gun store. I gave $435 I field stripped the gun. I couldn't tell it from new. Took it to the range they have at the shop and ran over 200Rd through it. It is the best shooting 45 i've ever had. Read a test they did with the 220. They took a new one and ran 10K Rd of Ball ammo through it. After the 10Rd they cleaned it. It shoot tighter groups after 10K RD went through it then it did new out of the box

Some police depts turn their guns in every so many years. They get a better price for the new guns by doing so.

I got a 225 from CDNN that looked like it was brand new. The blueing wasnt even worn on the slide rails or the barrel lands. If it had been shot, it sure hadnt been shot much. Most people look at it and think that its new.

Good price too.

lots of departments are trading in 9MMs for .40 Cal.  Also because of the 10 round limit, dealers were paying a premium for guns that included hi-cap. mags that predated the "law enforcement only" markings.  What they wanted was the mags.  Hope they didn't get caught with a lot of them when the ban ran out. :(

I purchased a Sig P 245 for 425.00 that was reconditioned. It is about 95% NRA, has a good trigger and shoots better than I can hold it. I can't ask anymore than that and it is a KEEPER. Rod in Pa

Very respectable deal.
My P226 is very well used, not reconditioned, and I paid more!
It is the 'one gun' I would grab in a pinch. What a great shooter.

:-D Funny, bout the time you think they are cheap, you find yourself questioning the price of one.  I recently bought a Swiss made Sig P225 9mm.  This is the first one of these I have seen.  It was assembled by Hammerli (marked "Montage  Suisse" (assembled in Switzerland) on the right hand side of the slide, it has Hammerli proof marks, but also has the Sig proof marks.  According to the information I found, only a few of these were imported into the USA.  I bought it off Auction arms, $499. including shipping and handling.

The gun is super nice, I would like to take it out and fire it, but since I just had an eighteen inch slash down the middle of my belly on 8 Jun. (repair of an aorta aneurysm), it will be a few weeks before I can go.

Summit Gunbroker is internet based and he deals almost exclusively in trade-ins, estates, etc.  Great deals on quality handguns if you have a reasonable local FFL dealer.

Right now he has P220s with '02 dated night sights for $400.  Other models at similar prices.

:D jhm.  I have been lucky, I have had good health insurance for many years.  At first I didn't like the practice of taking a portion of my pay each month, but after going under the knife three times (by-pass, knee and aneurysm) I don't mind at all.  The insurance company picked up all but $25. of my hospital bill.  That was the charge for a phone in my room and for my wife to eat in the dinning room.  Not bad at all for two meals a day for eight days.

I am now fully recovered and habe taken the 225 out several times.  It is a good shooter.

I have had my money back several times over, Diabetic, stroke, throat cancer, heart by pass quad, pneumonia at least 2 times possibly 3 and to think I didnt get any of the welfare medicine or treatment the government  is trying to GIVE away

rockbilly,
Please e-mail me. I have an aneurysm and would like to know what to expect if I were to have surgery.
I would like to hear from some one who has been there.
Thank you.

PS, put rockbilly in the subject line so I know it's from you. Otherwise it might get " lost ".

SEEMS as though I am in a contrary mood this morning--Hummm, coffe must not be strong enough--but i think not.
It takes alot of shooting to shoot out a barrel--I mean many thousands of rounds (bullets :) ). If it has truely been reconditioned there should be no fear. If it hasn't Wolff springs generally do the trick.
I have never had a bad experience with a used gun.
I have never bought a reconditioned gun from Sig but I would have no fear---now-- the finish is not in the mix in this question.
Blessings

Alloyjohn.  Shoot me an e-mail with any questions you might have about the surgery, I will be happy to try and provide answeres.

My surgery was a "Must,"  my aneurysm was about the size of a tennis ball, found by accident while looking at another problem.  The surgery was not too bad, the recovery was fairly fast, and today I feel like a million dollars.

As I said, I spent eight days in the hospital, but yours may be less.  The recovery time depends on you, for me it was not too bad.  In two months I was back to doing almost everything I wanted except heavy lifting.  The pain was bad for the first few days, but once I left the hospital I never took another pain pill. Being split down the middle has an impact on every mussel in the body, whatever you move seems to hurt for the first few days.

If you have any specific questions, leave me a personal message with the questions and I will try to answer them for you.

Bottom line, this is a very serious condition.  keep in mind, if that thing pops, you will be dead in less than 5 minutes, and it makes no difference if you are in the emergency room when it happens, there is nothing no one can do to save you.  Get it fixed, and your life should be back to (fairly) normal in a short period.

rockbilly'
Thanks for the response. I appreciate your insight on the matter. Mine is a femural artery, twice the size as the other side. Being checked every 6 months. I wish they would just operate.

I would send you an email but cannot find you address in your profile.
Thanks again. I feel a little more at ease about the whole thing now.

Since the subject has been broached--and I do not mind, we could all use the information.
NOW, I am not the moderator here, but if you wanted to post it here I would read it and get useful information.
MY 2 cents.
Blessings

I got my p226 for 350.00 after tax with 3 15 rnd mags like I'd need em. I was also told it was from a police trade in but it was only used for qualifying so it only had like 500 rnds through it.Put several hundred through it since without issue.
