CZ 550 Full Stock
« on: March 31, 2005, 02:25:13 AM »
I put a 550 FS in .308 in layaway not to long ago.  It was love at first sight.  The stock had a very faint tiger strip pattern, and the over all length was physically appealing to me.  This is my first "serious" centerfire rifle.  The Mannlicher styled stock has grown on me for sometime so when the time came to put it on layaway, well I just reaffirmed the desire to have one.  One year max to payoff the gun,  I hope to have it around my birthday in June.

I have 2 527 FS CZ rifles and love them both.  One's a 223 the other a Hornet.  I love the hornet and in this rifle it's a lethal little one..  The 223 was the last acquisition and I'm still working on loads for both.  The Hornet shot so well with the first load I just shot it!! Now I'm working to get it even better.  Some of the new powders promise big things from this little case.   I love FS rifles...

CZ scope rings
« Reply #2 on: April 01, 2005, 04:23:34 PM »
While on the topic of CZ rifles, maybe someone can help. Where can I get some decent scope rings/bases for a CZ 550 American? Any picks? I am fed up with the freebies they gave me. They truly look like they were designed by communists for the sole the purpose of using as much steel as possible to keep the factories going. Heavy, blocky hunks of metal that simply detract from the rifle's looks immensely. Any leads would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. take care.

CZ rings

Those rings are solid, though, as a tank! Like you though, I wanted something that was more eye candy, so I went with the Talley Rings. The steel ones are just as solid and look a lot better and are a lot lighter than the CZ rings. They are a bit pricey, but worth it. I believe if you look under Talley Manufacturing, or look on the HuntAmerica.com sight you'll see them. Tom Purdom :D

my CZ is my most reliable, accurate rifle.  I always thought those full stocks were kinda odd (at best).  I ran into a proud owner of one and have to admit that they are as balanced as a six legged cat.  Light, nimble and pretty sweet.  I am sure yours will be a winner.

A Trijicon Accupoint is on the list of items to buy in prep for this gun.  Initially I plan to practice with the Iron sights then move up to the Accupoint.  The Trijicons that I have handled with impressed me, so the Accupoint is what I am interested in.  Thanks for all the replys.

How much velocity loss have you guys noticed when shooting from the FS models vs. let's say, a 24" barrel?
