I for one will look forward to your report.  I wonder what WalMart will charge for these rifles?

I have a Stevens 200 in 30-06.  I did a range report post on Savage shooter forum.  Look here......http://www.savageshooters.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1616

Love the Stevens!

Hello Mitchell.  I saw one two weeks ago on display at a gun draw.  It had a greenish synthetic stock and a dull finish.  I didn't like the stock color too much, but if the gun is in the $250 range, I can live with it for a quality bolt action.  I'm hoping that the quality is just as good as the Savages and that perhaps its just a less expensive, no frills Savage.

My wife bought me one of the Mossberg 200ATR's in .30-06 for my birthday last year.  It is definitly a no frills gun.  But mine shoots very well.  I even put a cheap, and I do mean cheap, Wally World Tasco 3X9X40 scope on it.  So far so good.  I've only shot one box through it and I'm getting a 3 shot 1 1/2" at 100 yds.  The shells were Rem 180 gr soft points.

The Stevens Mfgr Sugg Retail Price is much lower than the Mossberg was.  So, maybe Wally World will sell them less than the Mossberg.  That would be great!

Skuttlebutt
« Reply #6 on: March 25, 2005, 04:21:00 AM »
The skuttlebutt is this is a Savage rifle without the Accu-Trigger.  I am seriously
considering this rifle for a project gun.  I am not a fan of the Accu-Trigger,
and basically just want the action.  I could see me getting one in 7mm-08, and
switching out the barrel with a .20 cal wildcat, like a .20 Tactical, dropping in
an aftermarket trigger, and getting a fiber stock from SSS.  With the 7mm-08
barrel, I could always switch it back to a deer rifle when it was off season for
varmint hunting.  Not that I need another deer rifle, but I don't have a 7mm
rifle, and this would "fix" that :)

If this is truely a first quality Savage barrel, and action, the this is a very good deal.
Both of my Savage centerfires are sub MOA, but one with, and one without, the
Accu-Trigger need trigger help.  But even with nasty triggers(both are nasty in MHO),
they still make itty bitty groups, on paper.

Stevens 200

I bought one on Monday in .243, it is exactly like the Savage hunter series without the accutrigger. it is piller bedded, vbery nice metal finish, my only complaint is the stock, the seams on the molded stock area little rough Havent got to shoot it yet, so I can't report on accuracy. I've never owned a Savage/Stevens rifle but I'm impressed so far dealer cost is 229.00 so go from there.

i ran across these today, and have also heard they are a savage 110 without the accutrigger, which i didn't want anyways, so it works out better for me. i'm gonna get a 7mm Rem Mag and either ream it or swap barrels to 7mm STW. i'm not familar with newer rifles so have i read it correctly that you can swap barrels back anf forth between calibers? does this not require a gunsmith?
