Weather conditions for you interior, AK guys
« on: March 18, 2005, 07:30:35 PM »
You guys that live in the interior experiencing a lot of warm weather as of late? How about the snow conditions around where you guys live? I got more dirt, water, and mud around my area than I do snow now. It's just about all gone.

I'm thinking if the weather conditions to stay the way it is, I believe the first or second week of April is going to be good for bears.

I went north today up the Richardson 70 miles looking for bear stand spots.  Saw four moose and no other sign.  The snow depth where I was walking was sometimes up to my crotch when I busted through the hard crust.  Streams are starting to flow and avalanches are ready to bust at any time.

I came back on Tuesday from Anchorage and up around Lake Louise and Glenn Allen there was about a foot of snow but very warm.   Same for Copper Center area.

My yard still has over four feet in it but I have the boat up to the house and am getting it ready.

I am ready to bear hunt for sure!

I might be going up past Eureka this weekend (maybe Sunday) and do some ptarmigan hunting as well as scout out some areas to do some serious spring griz hunting this year.

I'll take my predator call as well and see what happens.

Been mid-30's to 40 degrees.  Still plenty of snow around though.

In my yard it's gone from waist deep to mid theigh.  Last Sunday took the wife and went snowmachining up in the White mountains.  Weather was mild in the 30s, but the snow was still deep there.  Had a nice time.  Leaving Thursday for another trip up in the Brooks Range.  Temps in Beattles is in the  -teens at night, and in the single didgets during the day.  We will be camping out, and staying for four to five days.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

Sourdough, is there still a lot of snow in Bettles?
