hunting

The hardest part of the hunt for me is pulling the trigger now.  I have no trouble field dressing etc.  I used to go out and watch the deer while I was small game hunting, and kind of got to know them after a few months.  Then it is deer season, and it is time to harvest some of my "pets".  I find now it really helps for me to thank the deer for sacrificing itself so that our family can eat.  I thank the animal before I pull the trigger, and just before I dress it.  It also reminds me why I am doing it.

I think that's great. In germany, they don't watch the animal in it's death throes, it's undignified for the animal. Then before field dressing, they place a sprig in it's mouth to signify it's last meal. Some might laugh at that but I believe that the animal your killing derserve's respect.

People that don't love those animal's should not be allowed to disgrace them by killing them. People that do love them, take pain's to do it cleanly and quickly' preserving the animal's dignity.

Imagine if you would a man sentenced to die at a firing squad and they stood him off at some absurd range then fired bullet's into various part's of his anatomy prior to finishing him.
