Every time I see a thread about A 45-70, or someone just got one and asking questions, the replies are like bears being drawn to honey. I will have to admit, I've never had so much fun with a big bore. :grin: Love those 45-70s. :biggun: :toast: :mrgreen:

i see the 45-70 is one of the most popular calibers in the handi rifle.i dont have one but i sure have been thinking about getting into one.well im thinking about two of them :-) a 45-70 Handi Rifle barrel and a TC Contender barrel.i would have it covered then

You know what is funny Tommy...Everytime I see a post like this it makes me want a 45-70. I just can't justify it right now...It's a gun that I want but don't need right now...If NY would only do me a favor and open up whitetail season to rifles here in the Southern Zone then I may have a reason to purchase a 45-70...Until then I can only hope and pray. Oh well, I have my new found love of pistols to keep me happy for the time being.

I'm glad I opted for the 45-70 when I was thinking maybe of getting a 30-06. I love the attention too, at the range and also when some people ask me what ga. shotgun it is! The bullet size justs blows them away! :biggun: :shock:

I have no need for one but I've heard so much about them on GBO and the old H&R talk that I plan on adding one to the line up this summer. Mac got it right it's not about needs it's about wants.

I shoot the 45-70 Handi just for fun and giggles. But my son (16) uses it for serious bear hunting. He's taken a couple of Blacks, now he wants a Grizzly.
