Here's what I find:
Remington Model 511A Scoremaster Made 1939-62.  Bolt-Action  22 sht., long, LR, 25 inch brrl, weight about 5.5lbs.  Sights open rear, bead front.  Plain pistol-grip stock. 6-shot detachable box magazine.  $140.

Model 511P  Same as 511A, except has peep rear sight, Partridge blade front on ramp.  $150.

Model 511X  Bolt-Action Repeater  Clip type same as 511A except improved sights.  Made 1964-66.  $150.

Remington guns manufactured between 1921 and 1972 have a two or three letter code stamped on the left side of the barrel. This code indentifies the month and year of manufacture.

If you post the letter code I can probably find out when it was made.

I have a M511 made in 1953 and I really like that particular .22.
