I bought a set of Leupold Quick Detach rings for the Weaver base on my target pistol (because I like to pull the scope off so I don't get solvent on my scope while I'm cleaning the gun. Works great.)

My question is about how you've managed to use these rings with a conventional scope. On my red-dot sight, I could not close the top half of the ring over the scope to clamp the ring to the bottom half. I had to slide the scope into the top ring half, then mate the top half with the bottom half. This was odd.

How would you possibly put these rings on a scope with a bell on it (like most hunting scopes?)

This has been a real head scratcher for me since I got the rings, but just thought to ask today.

On the QRW rings----you have to snap them over the scope tube.

You might be able to flex the ends out a bit when you are sliding the ring over the tube to make installation a bit easier.

Ouch! Really? I wonder why? I don't see how they would snap over anything. These are big, heavy rings. I wouldn't want to mar my scope with them.

I put Leupold QRW rings on a Nikon UCC Monarch 6.5-20x44 and was able to "snap" them over the tube just fine. No marks or scratches even though it was a little snug to "snap" them.
