22 Ultra mag is a shooter
« on: February 28, 2005, 10:11:08 AM »
I got the bbl. scrubbed with JB, cleaned good, and lapped the rings, bore sighted and shot a few rounds to zero it in, boy am I a happy camper. I was only able to shoot 50yds at my house, but the black diamond on the 2 inch orange sticker targets is no longer there. The gun is shooting great groups at that range, much better than my 17hmr. I think I may have a scope problem on the 17, bullets are spread all over the place again, no two will go in the same place, as much as 1 1/4 inch spread at a 35 yard target off of a sand bag, same set up as the 22 mag, which is pounding the same hole, at 50 yds 17 opens up to over 2 inches, one will be in the bulls eye, used a dime sized bull, the next will be way to the right or way high, the next one will be on the other side of the bull, very frustrating. I think I must invest in an another scope for the 17.

I'd suspect something has come loose on yur .17. That's too inconsistant.
Ohhhh, I hate when that happens
